    Parenting Diary: Get Out There

As much as I love staying cozy and productive indoors, some days – well, maybe every day lately – you just need to get OUT. Here is my first tip in a possible new series here on the blog.. Parenting Diary: Get Out There! Aka, go on adventures, get outside, go explore with your kid(s), even when you just want to lay around and lounge. The adventures are worth it…

    Get Outside

    My dad was the one.

The one who got us out of the house on a sunny Saturday.

When I would have been perfectly happy laying on our fuzzy orange carpet, watching Baywatch or Saved by the Bell reruns. He was the one who said “We are going OUT!” And “out” usually meant down to the bluffs to walk down the trail to the beach, to fly our crinkled blue kite, or toss a football. Sometimes we drove down to Monterey to tip-toe through tide pools and climb warm rocks with ocean air in our faces. Or maybe OUT just meant a quick stroll to the tennis club to play under the lights, humming crickets and an empty parking lot. Or we’d take a swim in the pool and crawl into fluffy towels for our cool walk home. I always think of my dad when planning adventures now. WWDD?

    New Parent Days: Adventures Out?

Even in these super new days of parenting, I am grateful for the inspiration from both my mom and dad to get OUT.

Even though adventures require a lot of planning and prep and schlepping of stuff. I think we usually end up with three bags for road trips these days. A diaper bag. Snacks bag. And extra stuff bag. Stuff can include anything from beach gear to changes of clothes to additional shoes for a change of footwear. It’s a lot, but it’s always been worth it!

I am sure I will get better at planning and packing as the months go on!

Promise to Get Outside with My Little

So yeah, I’m grateful for the inspiration from both my parents to be adventurous! I always admired that quality in both my mom and dad. They were always up for a challenge, an adventure, something new.

I’ll try my very best to scoop my little one off the floor and get outside in the sunshine. ✨Who was the person who got you OUT of the house when you were a kid? What adventures did you go on?

    “Let’s Get Out There, Mama!”

She loves a good lazy day, sunshine snuggle as much as me, but sometimes we have to just get out there.

    Adventure in Southern California

There are so many activities that I have on my list for our southern California adventures. But if you have any faves – please send them my way!

On this particular weekend we did a few things:

    Weekend Adventure Los Angeles Parks

    1. Drove south to Palos Verdes and hopped out at lookout points like the scenic lighthouse – Point Vincente Park. We also went down to Abalone Cove beach.
    2. Culver City Stairs + Stonewood Nature Center
